Revolution Bars to trial arcade games in venue, as chain reopens sites

Revolution Bars will trial new concepts at some of its venues this summer, including bringing in some arcade games, as it looks to boost revenues after a tough year for the hospitality sector.

The chain’s boss Rob Pitcher said the likes of a dance machine and other games will be available at one branch in the summer, while at another site some space will be leased to street food vendors. If successful, the group will look to roll some of these concepts out to new sites.

Pitcher was outlining some of the plans as the company showed how Covid restrictions have hit the business, from temporary site closures to curfews.

In the six months to December 26 Revolution Bars recorded a 73% slump in sales to £ 21.6 million.

The firm last year saw launched a company voluntary arrangement which allowed it to get rent reductions at a number of sites and close six venues.

Revolution Bars reopened 19 sites yesterday where a outdoor service is offered, and plans to open the rest of its branches from May 17 when indoors service is set to be allowed.

The company said 11,969 guests booked with the business in the first week it reopened the booking system for May 17 onward.

Pitcher said: “We are excited and ready to bounce back.”
