Yahoo Finance Reports: Bears signing ex-Cowboys DE Robert Quinn to 5-year, $70 million deal
The Chicago Bears are reportedly adding a veteran pass rusher to pair with Khalil Mack.
According to NFL Network, the Bears have agreed to a five-year, $70 million deal with Robert Quinn. The deal includes $30 million in guaranteed money.

Quinn, 29, is coming off a one-year stint with the Dallas Cowboys where he led the team with 11.5 sacks. It marked the second-highest sack total in Quinn’s nine-year career. A first-round pick back in 2011, Quinn put up a league-leading 19 sacks during his third season with the then-St. Louis Rams.
Quinn spent seven seasons with the Rams, amassing 62.5 sacks and two Pro Bowl nods. From there, he was traded to the Miami Dolphins for a fourth-round pick. And following a year in Miami, the Dolphins sent him along to Dallas for a sixth-rounder. He turned in a strong year for the Cowboys despite missing the first two weeks for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Now Quinn is headed to the NFC North to pair with Mack, one of the NFL’s elite pass rushers.
Bears moving on from Leonard Floyd
In connection to the addition of Quinn, the Bears are reportedly moving on from Leonard Floyd, the team’s 2016 first-round pick.
The Bears traded up to select Floyd at No. 9 overall out of Georgia. Floyd had a strong rookie year with 33 tackles and seven sacks, but he has yet to match that sack total in the years since.
The Bears made the decision to pick up Floyd’s fifth-year option worth $13.2 million last year, but releasing him comes at no cost and will free up additional cap room for the franchise.
Chicago’s track record of first-round picks under general manager Ryan Pace has not been strong. The Bears picked West Virginia wide receiver Kevin White at No. 7 overall in 2015 and he caught only 25 passes for the team. Floyd was Pace’s pick in 2016 and he followed it up the year after by trading up to No. 2 to select quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who has been up-and-down to say the least.
Coming off an 8-8 record in 2019, it remains to be seen whether Pace will bring in a veteran quarterback to compete with Trubisky.
