Magic trade Aaron Gordon to Nuggets

The Orlando Magic have reportedly traded Aaron Gordon to the Denver Nuggets for Gary Harris, RJ Hampton, and a first-round pick, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Gordon’s numbers and playing time have been slightly down this season for a Magic team that’s near the bottom of the Eastern Conference. The 25-year-old is averaging 14.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game in just under 30 minutes a night.

According to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes, Gordon was open to a change of scenery as the Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons inquired about a deal prior to the trade deadline. The Magic valued Gordon, according to Haynes, and attached a substantial price tag to his availability.

During his seven seasons with the Magic, Gordon made the playoffs only once in 2018-19. He’s currently in the third year of a four-year, $80 million contract.

Gordon seeking trade due to 'frustration'

Gordon, who was selected by the Magic with the fourth overall pick in the 2014 draft, confirmed on Wednesday that he has asked the team for a trade. That request stems from his "frustration" with the Magic on several levels.

"There's been times where I just expressed my frustration to management," Gordon told reporters via ESPN. "Frustration with the losses, the injuries, the way we've been playing and how many losses have accumulated over the years. So it's just my frustration kind of boiling over I would say. ... I think a lot of people share that sentiment with me, of frustration."

The Magic have a 15-29 record and are currently second-to-last in the Eastern Conference, ahead of only the Detroit Pistons.
