Yahoo Finance Myles Garrett signs five-year, $125M extension with Browns
The Cleveland Browns have agreed to a long-term extension with Pro Bowl defensive end Myles Garrett, the team announced Wednesday.

Garrett confirmed the deal in his end with a video of himself writing a message to the Browns fanbase: “Cleveland keep betting on me, World keep betting against us.”

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Garrett is now under contract for five years and $125 million with $100 million in guaranteed money, $50 million of which is guaranteed at signing.
Garrett, 24, is approaching his fourth season in the NFL. The No. 1 pick in the 2017 NFL draft has tallied 30 sacks in his three seasons and made the Pro Bowl in 2018 when he recorded 13.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.
“Myles' rare physical gifts in conjunction with his work ethic, intellect and humility have been the catalysts behind an auspicious start to his young career,” Browns general manager Andrew Berry said in the team’s release. “Despite his early individual successes, Myles maintains the same drive toward greatness that he displayed as a 22-year old rookie. We firmly believe that this intense focus means the best is yet to come."
Garrett clear to play after helmet incident
Garrett totaled 10 sacks in 10 games last season before his suspension for swinging his helmet at Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph. The NFL has lifted the indefinite suspension and reinstated Garrett to play the next time the Browns take the field.
Garrett is a significant piece of the Browns’ future as they’ve rebuilt their roster around young talent. Garrett joins running back Nick Chubb and cornerback Denzel Ward as players under 25 to have made the Pro Bowl with the Browns in recent seasons.
Big expectations in Cleveland
Last season was a disappointment in Cleveland as quarterback Baker Mayfield regressed from his rookie campaign and failed to make a connection with newly acquired wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
After a 6-10 season that was highlighted by Garrett’s helmet-swinging incident, pressure for a turnaround and playoff appearance in 2020 will be high.
