Yahoo Finance Red Sox minor leaguer tests positive for coronavirus
The Boston Red Sox announced to reporters on Tuesday that a player in their minor league system has tested positive for COVID-19.
That player has not identified himself.
Red Sox think he got sick away from facilities
The player was at the team’s spring training facilities in Fort Myers, Florida through March 15. He tested positive on March 23 from a different location. The Red Sox believe “it is more likely that he contracted COVID-19 after he left Fort Myers,” according to a statement relayed by the Boston Globe’s Alex Speier.
The Red Sox have shut down all activity at their Ft. Myers facility and advised players and personnel who came in contact with the infected player to remain in quarantine for two weeks.

The Red Sox player is the third with ties to MLB known to have contracted COVID-19. The New York Yankees announced on March 17 that two players in their minor-league system tested positive.
