Rams QB Jared Goff is active, but won't start against Seahawks, 12 days after thumb surgery

Thumb surgery on a throwing hand seems like it would be more than a two-week injury.

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is shaking off the injury and active for a wild-card playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks. Goff had thumb surgery the day after the Rams lost to the Seahawks in a Week 16 game.

While Goff is active, he won’t start the contest, according to Jay Glazer. Goff is expected to backup John Wolford.

The Rams posted a video of Goff making a pass pregame that looked strong.

Wolford started for Goff in Week 17. Making the first passes of his NFL career, Wolford helped Los Angeles beat the Arizona Cardinals and clinch a playoff berth.

Sean McVay originally said he wouldn’t announce his starting quarterback before kickoff. He kept that a secret until roughly a half hour before game time.
