First-home buyers are snapping up property in Sydney’s west and south-western suburbs, as well as the Central Coast.

A new report from InfoTrack has revealed the top 10 suburbs for first-home buyers across NSW, based on the number of sales made in the first quarter of the year.

Taking out the top spot was the 2155 postcode, which includes Beaumont Hills, Kellyville, Kellyville Ridge, North Kellyville and Rouse Hill. The postcode has risen in popularity over the past couple of months, rising from sixth place last quarter.

The Central Coast came in fifth place and was the only area outside of Sydney’s west and south-western suburbs to crack the top 10.

“We’ve seen more and more first-home buyers looking to purchase outside of the central Sydney metropolitan area. And access to more affordable properties still in commuting distance to the CBD, along with beautiful beaches, waterways, family-friendly parks, and a strong café culture, make the Central Coast very appealing,” InfoTrack head of property Australia Lee Bailie said.

First-home buyers were also preferencing houses over apartments and townhouses, the report found.

“Strata properties represented the greatest portion of sales for this buying cohort at the end of 2022, but the start of 2023 has seen this shift to house owner-occupied,” Bailie said.

“House owner-occupied represented 50 per cent of sales based on land use for first-home buyers, compared with 46 per cent of strata owner-occupied properties.”
