The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At FLIR Systems

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Chairman, Earl Lewis, sold US$1.2m worth of shares at a price of US$51.33 per share. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of US$53.17, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it's only a weak signal. It is worth noting that this sale was only 304% of Earl Lewis's holding.

Insider Ownership of FLIR Systems

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Insiders own 0.8% of FLIR Systems shares, worth about US$59m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
