Powerhouse Ventures Limited (ASX:PVL) Insiders Increased Their Holdings

We often see insiders buying up shares in companies that perform well over the long term. Unfortunately, there are also plenty of examples of share prices declining precipitously after insiders have sold shares. So shareholders might well want to know whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in Powerhouse Ventures Limited (ASX:PVL).

What Is Insider Selling?

It's quite normal to see company insiders, such as board members, trading in company stock, from time to time. However, rules govern insider transactions, and certain disclosures are required.

We would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing. But equally, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether. As Peter Lynch said, 'insiders might sell their shares for any number of reasons, but they buy them for only one: they think the price will rise'.

Powerhouse Ventures Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Company Secretary & Independent Director Geoffrey Gander for AU$100k worth of shares, at about AU$0.05 per share. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of AU$0.09. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.

Powerhouse Ventures insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insider Ownership

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Insiders own 32% of Powerhouse Ventures shares, worth about AU$1.9m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.

So What Do The Powerhouse Ventures Insider Transactions Indicate?

There haven't been any insider transactions in the last three months -- that doesn't mean much. But insiders have shown more of an appetite for the stock, over the last year.
