If there's anything this past year has taught us, physical, mental and emotional health should play a larger role in our everyday lives. From a serious increase in at-home workouts to a renewed interest in practicing meditation and other applicable methods to find peace, it's more imperative than ever we make wellness a trop priority.

Don Brooks, a.k.a. “Don-A-Matrix” is the longtime personal trainer to the Kardashian/Jenner family. Although he still works with Khloe, Kim and Kourtney, the fitness guru has occasionally trained Kylie and Kanye West over the years, too. Outside of the superstar family, his other clients have included actor Josh Duhamel and musician Trey Songz.

Brooks also owns his own studio in Los Angeles where he teaches his signature “Matrix Method” workout. As a former NFL trainer, Don has carried this experience over to clients by teaching the routine in four quarters like a football game. This allows for strategic pauses and hydration breaks, while also maximizing the most out of every participant.

"My method is more about the efficiency versus time spent in the gym," Books explained to Yahoo Sports. "Regardless of if you're training from anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour, you're still receiving a full-body experience."

To the naked eye, Brooks' workout may look intimidating. However, he ensures that individuals of all fitness levels can complete his classes, which are available via Zoom, on-demand and in-person in LA.

"Basic squats, lunges, biceps curls and extensions are the basics to exercises," the BODYARMOR representative answered, when asked what drills those looking to take their workout regimen seriously should start with. "Try a few things to figure out what you like. Whether that be working with a personal trainer or solo, start slow and increase when you feel comfortable doing so."

Contrary to popular belief, a bunch of equipment isn't necessary to reach health and fitness goals. In fact, Brooks' method can be done with just one tool: resistance bands. For $50, you receive five bands with 75 pounds of total stackable resistance and a sweet sweat 6.4-ounce stick. Not only do they travel well, but they come in different levels so you can make any type of adjustment.

Because Brooks' regimen is divided into four quarters built around hydration, he also disclosed his favorite drink (after water) to gulp down after a tough session. BODYARMOR, specifically the coconut flavor. With zero artificial sweeteners and no added sugars, it boasts potassium-packed electrolytes and antioxidants.

If you're ready for the challenge, Don Brooks' workouts are available via his mobile app, Zoom and on-demand.
