Yahoo Finance Children 'beheaded' in personal trainer's home
A personal trainer has been arrested after his two children were found beheaded in his home.
The 12-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl were discovered dead in the Los Angeles home, in the US state of California, on Friday (local time), the LA Times reported.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived about 8am (local time) after receiving a report of a gas leak at the property and discovered the two deceased children in separate rooms.
Police said they had sustained “lacerations and stab wounds”, with the local mayor describing the injuries as “pretty brutal”.
The children’s dad, Maurice Taylor Sr, 34, was arrested and being held on suspicion of murder with a bail of A$2.7 million.
It’s not clear how long the children had been dead before they were discovered. Police said their deaths were not believed to be caused by a gas leak.
Two other uninjured children were in the home when crews arrived and were taken to hospital for checks. An adult woman was also in the home at the time.
Clients of Mr Taylor described him a kind and hardworking person, adding to their disbelief over the deaths of the two kids.
“Think of the nicest person that you know, then multiply that by five. He worked so hard to support himself. Unfortunately, we don’t know enough to say what happened or what didn’t happen,” lawyer and client Howard Kern told the LA Times.
Another client said Mr Taylor had been working remotely due to the coronavirus and described him as “so reliable, so responsive and mellow”.
The uninjured children have been taken into the care of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), according to the publication.
None of the children have been previously involved with the DCFS and there have been no previous calls regarding concern for their welfare.
