"Ladies, here’s the thing you need to know about men: Don’t give him a reason to be like this ‘distracted boyfriend," he allegedly said, referencing the popular meme, according to website Friendly Atheist.

"Now, look, I’m not saying every woman can be the epic, the epic trophy wife of all time, like Melania Trump — I’m not saying that at all," he is believed to have added. "Not everybody looks like that! Amen?! But you don’t need to look like a butch, either!"

It's reported that he added when he is asked by wives how to fix their marriage, he says his advice is "weight control", adding, "So how important is this? Let me tell you something: I have a friend. He has put a 'divorce weight' on his wife! That’s how important this is!"

The pastor allegedly continued, saying: "Makeup is a good thing. You know, my little boy said, 'Why do girls wear makeup and perfume?' You say 'Because they’re ugly and they stink.' You don’t want to be ugly and stink!"

Backlash quickly followed after a video was shared of the sermon, with some writing that the pastor may want to follow some of his own advice.

One YouTube commenter wrote: "Nothing that he talkin' about has anything to do with the book he's holding," a person commented.

"If you’re taking relationship advice from this dude—your wife will go shopping for greener pastures," another wrote.

"Divorce weight. That’s just derogatory," someone else said.

Following the report, a statement was issued saying the sermon included comments that are not "consistent with the position and values” of their denomination.

The church has since stopped using social media and has removed all of its content and contact details.
