Yahoo Finance Packers' Davante Adams says it's 'fair to say' he's best WR in NFL
Davante Adams’ hot streak continued in Week 9 for the Green Bay Packers during a blowout win over the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night. So he was understandably asked after the victory if he thought he was the best receiver in the NFL.
Adams: ‘Fair to say’ I’m best receiver
“I think that's fair to say. I think that's not being conceited. That's just being confident,” Adams told reporters after the game, via NFL.com. “I think, obviously, what I've done and what I'm going to continue to do is going to prove that to anybody who isn't on board with that.”
Adams caught 10 of 12 targets from quarterback Aaron Rogers for 173 yards and the opening score of the contest. The Packers won 34-17 after the 49ers put up two touchdowns in the final five minutes.

He is the favorite target of Rodgers, who throws to Adams on 76 percent of his passes. Adams has more completions (53-41) and touchdowns (8-6) than the rest of the team’s other receivers combined.
In staying confident, but not conceited, Adams continued his case by praising the rest of his team in the success.
“I truly believe that, just based off of the work that I've put in [and] the connection I have between my quarterback,” Adams said, continuing to state his case while noting several times that he wanted to come across as confident but not conceited.
“It's not just about me just running a route. If the line isn't protecting or if the quarterback doesn't look your way or if the other receivers don't do their part to pull defenders away, none of what I do can happen. So at the end of the day, I'll tell you, yes, absolutely, I think I'm the best wide receiver in the game, but there's a lot of things that go into me being able to make that statement.”
Adams is on pace for a career year after three weeks of hot play.
Adams’ hot season continues
Adams has played in only six of eight games this season because of a hamstring injury that kept him out in Weeks 3 and 4. He has 53 catches for 675 yards and eight touchdowns and is the first player with at least 600 yards and eight touchdowns in his first six games since Randy Moss in 2007, per ESPN Stats & Info.
He’s also the first player in NFL History with three games of at least 10 catches and 150 receiving yards in the front half of the season, per Elias Sports. And the second player to do that with a touchdown in each of the three contests during a full season. Calvin Johnson is the other, doing it in Week 12 of 2012.

The past three weeks against the Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings and 49ers are even more impressive. Adams, a second-round pick in the 2015 draft, has 30 catches for 422 yards and six touchdowns.
