Thomas brings more than 30 years of experience working with food and athletes
BOULDER, Colo., July 22, 2021--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Outside, Inc., the world’s leading creator of active & healthy lifestyle content, events, and experiences, announced Biju Thomas, chef, entrepreneur, cyclist, and food industry pro, has joined the Outside, Inc. team as Senior Content Producer for Nutrition and Cooking. Thomas will have a significant role in creating video, TV, and visual content that builds ties across Outside’s publications.
"I’ve been very aware of Outside as a brand my whole life, so this is a very exciting opportunity for me," said Thomas. "Looking through all the brands and magazines and having so many voices under one roof is just mind-blowing. I’m eager to be a part of building these brands and telling stories that connect people’s food with their active lifestyle."
Thomas has been contributing to the food and sports tech industries for more than 30 years. He is the co-author of the best-selling Feedzone Cookbook series, founder of sports and recreation technology company Sensetech, LLC, and has appeared on episodes of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and SCRAPS as founder of The Little Curry Shop restaurants.
In 2011, Thomas joined Boulder-based sports nutrition company, Skratch Labs, which was founded by Dr. Allen Lim, PhD. Thomas and a few other friends later came on as co-founders of the company. The duo had traveled extensively to support some of the most renowned athletes in the world, all the while working out of tiny spaces and cooking from scratch, which would later contribute to the company name.
Most recently, Thomas helped launch the online cooking platform mixn-match.com. He’s also served as echef for a variety of notable names, including Lance Armstrong, cyclist Rebecca Rusch, actor and cyclist Patrick Dempsey, NBA legend Bill Walton, and has appeared with Guy Fieri on The Food Network.
With this announcement, Thomas is among 25 new hires in Q2 of 2021, alongside roles focused on product design, membership, and engineering. Outside now boasts over 500 employees across its publications and brands and is continuing to grow with digitally focused editorial roles.
