All Ords breaches 5,000 mark

The All Ordinaries has breached the 5,000 mark as the Australian share market opened more than half a per cent higher.

At 1010 AEDT on Wednesday, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was up 32.1 points, or 0.65 per cent, at 4,991.1, while the broader All Ordinaries index was up 30.2 points, or 0.60 per cent, at 5011.7.

On the ASX 24, the March share price index futures contract was up 22 points at 4,948, with 7,503 contracts traded.
