Optus customers who are battling the ongoing floods across New South Wales and Queensland will be offered a range of free services.

Optus said it was focused on the safety and peace of mind of its customers and people, including keeping its network resilient for those affected and providing tailored solutions to help those in most need.

“Our thoughts are with those communities currently affected and those facing hard times ahead,” Optus managing director, marketing & revenue Matt Williams said.

“These are challenging times for everyone, and the safety and connectivity of our customers is our highest priority.”

Williams said that while several towns and regions had been affected by the deluge of rain, the Optus network had remained resilient and the company was working hard to restore affected services as quickly as possible.

Optus has activated a range of initiatives as a result of the crisis, including:

  • Postpaid customers in affected areas will be provided up to 25GB of additional data to offset increased usage on eligible plans

  • Prepaid customers in affected areas will be provided up to 25GB of additional data on eligible plans

  • Consumer and Business fixed internet customers will be eligible for a free interim service to keep them connected

What if my service has been affected?

Optus said it had established a dedicated customer hotline for those affected by the severe weather.

If you are having issues with your service, you should call 1800 507 581. Additionally, customers can connect via the My Optus App, which will be staffed 24/7 for customers to message the company directly.

“As always, we encourage any of our customers who are experiencing hardship to ring 1300 308 839 to discuss their specific circumstances so we can look to find a tailored solution that meets their needs,” Optus said.
