It is usually uneventful when a single insider buys stock. However, When quite a few insiders buy shares, as it happened in Gamehost Inc.'s (TSE:GH) case, it's fantastic news for shareholders.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Gamehost

Earlier in the year, VP, Secretary & Director Darcy Will paid CA$7.57 per share in a CA$69k purchase. That implies that an insider found the current price of CA$7.90 per share to be enticing. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. We do always like to see insider buying, but it is worth noting if those purchases were made at well below today's share price, as the discount to value may have narrowed with the rising price. The good news for Gamehost share holders is that insiders were buying at near the current price.

Insider Ownership

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Insiders own 38% of Gamehost shares, worth about CA$69m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
