NSW residents have been urged to check their eligibility for a portion of the $152 million in unclaimed money the government is currently holding.

The money comes from 430,000 items from deceased estates, share dividends, bonds and overpayments.

And while some unclaimed sums are $20 in share dividends, there is one trust fund worth more than $1 million currently unclaimed.

Revenue NSW will hold these unclaimed sums if the owners’ contact details are out of date or if they’re hard to contact. The government holds the sums until they are claimed.

“Cost of living is a major issue facing families and households across the state, which is why we want people to check their eligibility,” Minister for Finance, Services and Property Victor Dominello said.

You can check your eligibility by visiting the Revenue NSW website or visit any Service NSW centre.
