North Sydney Council says a floating helipad on Sydney Harbour has been approved without community consultation.
The State Government granted approval for the helipad to operate east of Fort Denison and service helicopters from 7am till dusk.
Federal Member for Wentworth Malcolm Turnbull has labelled the approval "undemocratic and reckless" and is calling on the Premier to rescind the plan.
General Manager of North Sydney Council Penny Holloway says angry residents packed a public meeting last night and expressed outrage at the decision.
"Certainly there has been no community consultation and no normal public exhibition process that we'd have to go through in Council if there was any major development being proposed in our area," she said.
