Nine times Woolies and Coles had the worst offers ever

The supermarket price war between Woolies and Coles has seen the two supermarket giants continually strive to offer customers competitive money-saving offers.

Or do they?

All Aussie’s love a great bargain, but some epic fails by these two retailers have left shoppers scratching their heads.

Here are nine times Woolies and Coles have advertised ridiculous ‘savings’.

Woolworths offered a fantastic 'cheap cheap special' with this one cent bargain deal.

This 'reduced to clear' Coles item was actually being advertised for exactly the same price as on the original hidden label.

A little more obvious, Woolies even slashed through its previous offer price, discounting zero cents in its new clearance offer.

An even more epic fail - on this occasion Coles managed to 'reduce' its item price by actually adding a $5.50 surcharge!

Woolies also failed the test, claiming this item had been reduced by 20 per cent when in reality, it is two cents more expensive than the original price.

Another head scratcher - these special offer lamb steaks were advertised for $1 more per kilo than the same meat not on special offer.

Why buy two packs of Philadelphia when you can buy a double pack at a fantastic value of one cent more?

I doubt this generous 41 cents per kilo discount will result in a particualrly quick sale at all.

Another example of two side-by-side brilliant Woolworths discounts - for exactly the same price as before the product was on clearance.
