After big win, Russell Wilson's thoughts immediately went to James White, who lost father in accident

Russell Wilson put on quite the show Sunday night in 35-30 win over the New England Patriots. But all the Seattle Seahawks quarterback could think about after his five-touchdown performance was Patriots running back James White.

White did not play in Sunday night’s game after learning his father, Tyrone, was killed in a car crash earlier that day. His mother was also in the car, and as of Sunday evening was reportedly in critical condition.

Wilson, who was teammates with White at Wisconsin, sent out a pregame tweet in support and sent prayers after the game.

NBC’s Michele Tafoya interviewed Wilson after the game and opened by asking about the defense’s goal-line stand at the end.

“First of all, Michele, my heart’s heavy,” Wilson said and began addressing White.

Wilson called White “one of the nicest guys, teammates, one of the hardest workers [and] one of the best people I know.”

“My heart’s been heavy all day thinking about him, so obviously the game was the game. This year’s been a tough year as a whole and a lot of people that we know (are impacted) and people just going through so much. But James, I’m praying for you man, if you can hear me.”

Wilson played at Wisconsin in 2011 after three years at N.C. State. White was as sophomore that season, spending all four years as a Badger from 2010-2013.

Wilson was among a large group of players who sent their thoughts to White after the news was reported.

White’s former Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, also sent out a message to the family. And after Patriots safety Devin McCourty opened Sunday night’s game with a pick six, he ran to the end zone camera and yelled “2-8, we love, bro.

Tyrone White was a captain in the Miami-Dade Police Department. He was off duty when the accident happened, according to local reports. Patriots owner Robert Kraft offered to fly White straight to Miami, Tafoya reported on the broadcast. White opted to fly home with his teammates and he was reportedly not believed to be at the stadium for the game.
