Newcrest says its full-year gold production is expected to come in at the lower end of its previous guidance.
That is after the miner recorded a 15 per cent decline in its fourth quarter gold production result.
Newcrest produced 493,000 ounces of gold in the three months to December.
Copper output rose almost 10 per cent to nearly 20,000 tonnes.
For the full year, gold production is expected to be at the bottom end of its guidance range of between 2.3-2.5 million tonnes.
Newcrest shares fell around 3 per cent in the first 10 minutes of trade to $22.85, but bounced back during the day to end up posting a gain of 1.8 per cent and a closing price of $23.98.
