Newcastle welcome Wolves to St James’ Park in the Premier League’s late kick-off this evening.

The Magpies have been drawn into a desperate relegation battle after a torrid run of just two wins in their last 14 top flight matches, although Steve Bruce insists he is “quietly confident” his side will survive the drop.

Despite suffering defeats against Manchester United and Chelsea, Newcastle are still clearly fighting for their under-fire head coach, but the absence of Callum Wilson, who is still recovering from a hamstring injury, may ultimately prove fatal to their hopes.

Wolves, meanwhile, have well recovered from their own lull in form, which was sparked by the dreadful head injury sustained by Raul Jimenez. The arrival of Willian Jose on loan from Real Sociedad in January has rejuvenated the club’s attack, though, and their results have followed suit, too, with three wins in their last four games.

What is the team news?

Newcastle: Joelinton hobbled of with injury and is expected to miss out alongside fellow striker Callum Wilson. Martin Dubravka is reportedly set to replace Karl Darlow in goal.

Wolves: Daniel Podence, Willy Boly and Raul Jimenez are absent for Wolves, while Marcal is also expected to miss out after being brought due to a muscle injury last time out.
