Yahoo Finance New twist after mum, 32, accused of having sex with 14-year-old boy
A 32-year-old mother has been found not guilty of knowingly having sex with a 14-year-old boy after luring him to her house as he played football outside with a friend.
Teah Vincent, a British mother to three young children, told the court she believed the boy to be over 16 and of legal age to consent to sex.
On Thursday (local time) a jury cleared Ms Vincent at Gloucester Crown Court, the Daily Mail reported.
Late evidence brought before the court revealed the child had set his date of birth on Facebook to the year 2000 which would have made him over 16 at the time of their encounter.
Ms Vincent vehemently denied she knew the boy was underage, telling the court she was confident he had told her he was 16. The child denied her claim.
The child said he set his date of birth to 2000 so he could easily access games on the social media site.
Prosecutor Christopher Smyth previously told the jury Ms Vincent offered two boys water near her home before they returned to her property and one went with her to her bedroom.
She then initiated sex with the child, which she admits, before the boy allegedly pushed her off and fled the room, Mr Smyth said.
An emotional Ms Vincent, who wept as she was discharged from court, later took to Facebook to post a picture with her arms raised.
“Not guilty. Thank you everyone that stood behind me and believed me, it’s been the hardest two years of my life,” she wrote.
“Welcome 2021 for me and my kids.”
