New solar-powered bikini to charge iPhones

Your iPhone will never run out of juice again in the middle of a relaxing sunbathe courtesy of the iKini a swimsuit made of solar panels that can charge several portable devices — from an iPod to a camera.

The $184 swimsuit was designed by New Yorker Andrew Schneider, who spends over 80 hours putting together each bikini with 40 very flexible and thin photo-volcanic panels and conductive thread.

Mr Schneider has said that the swimwear is totally safe and people should not be worried about getting an electric shock while using it. “You wouldn’t even feel the charge,” he said.

According to the designer, you could even go for a swim as long as you make sure that you are “dry before hooking up”.

At the moment, only women can take advantage of this technology-meets-fashion gadget, but men have a lot to look forward to too: Mr. Schneider has revealed that he intends to create a pair of trunks that can cool beer.
