Vanessa Bryant has hit out at actress Evan Rachel Wood over the Hollywood star's tweet from nearly a year ago when she labelled Kobe Bryant a 'rapist'.

Wood, known for her role in WestWorld, caused a stir when she tweeted only hours after Kobe Bryant and daughter Gianna died in a helicopter crash.

"What has happened is tragic. I am heartbroken for Kobe's family," she wrote on the 26/01/2020.

"He was a sports hero. He was also a rapist. And all of these truths can exist simultaneously."

Vanessa hadn't responded to the tweet till now after she claimed: "This just came to my attention."

"Your false, insensitive, defamatory and slanderous tweet on 1/26/20 is vile and disturbing to say the least,” she wrote on a screenshot of the original tweet.

“Behaviour like this is part of the reason why innocent black men go to jail for crimes they didn’t commit. An accusation doesn’t make someone guilty.

“YOU DON’T KNOW THE FACTS OF THE CASE.”

She also posted the same message to film producer Abigail Disney after her message from 29/01/2020: "The man was a rapist. Deal with it."

Vanessa Bryant replies to Evan Rachel Wood

A 19-year-old Colorado hotel employee accused Kobe Bryant of sexual assault in 2003.

The charges were dropped after the accuser declined to testify.

The woman brought a civil case against Kobe Bryant, which was settled outside of court in 2005.

Wood sparked swift backlash in 2020 following her tweet.

Vanessa Bryant posted some of the messages of support, which included one from actress Kyla Pratt.

"Evan. We met as kids & I grew up in the same industry as you and have admired your work from afar these past few years. On camera and off," she wrote.

"But this tweet? How f**king dare you?"

Only last month, the NBA world gathered to mourn the death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna 12 months after their death.
