NASCAR drivers, LeBron James respond to noose found in Bubba Wallace's garage
NASCAR announced on Sunday night that a noose was found in Bubba Wallace’s garage, a racist act directed at NASCAR’s only full-time Black driver. Just over a week after NASCAR banned the display of confederate flags at races in an effort to be inclusive and welcoming to all, NASCAR is now conducting an investigation to find out who targeted Wallace.
NASCAR drivers began responding late Sunday night and Monday morning. Many were disgusted by what happened, but overwhelmingly encouraging to Wallace, who is racing at 3 p.m. ET on Monday after Sunday’s race was delayed due to rain.

Just disgusting. Imagine how small & self-loathing whoever did this must feel - and to be so cowardly that they don't even own up to it.
@BubbaWallace on your worst day you're 10X the man this person is. Keep the hammer down and bring it, you got my full support FWIW.— JR Hildebrand (@JRHildebrand) June 22, 2020
This is disgusting and appalling. There’s cameras everywhere in the garage, I pray they caught this person/people on them. If not then somebody knows who did this, be a man and speak up. Go out there and stomp on that loud pedal as hard as you can today @BubbaWallace. https://t.co/tUtBRtaMYC

I don’t worry about our sport. I have confidence NASCAR’s leadership will find who did this and continue pushing us in the right direction. I do worry about Bubba. I hope Bubba is feeling loved and supported. Keep sending him that love and support. He needs it now more than ever.

I’m sorry you have to put up with crap like this. There are a bunch of people inside that garage that have your back.
Don’t let one dirt bag knock you off course. https://t.co/P9vkTWMyE7— David Ragan (@DavidRagan) June 22, 2020
Woke up to some bad news that’s not worth repeating. Not because it’s not serious, but because That’s exactly what the culprits want, attention and the fear that comes from it.
I trust Nascar to handle it appropriately and fully support them in getting this right.— Brad Keselowski (@keselowski) June 22, 2020
God help us. The level of evil it takes to do something like this is disgusting. This is enraging and heartbreaking all at the same time. pic.twitter.com/FovpeTwINu

NASCAR athletes weren’t the only ones with reactions. LeBron James chimed in, as did Billie Jean King and several others.
Sickening! @BubbaWallace my brother! Know you don’t stand alone! I’m right here with you as well as every other athlete. I just want to continue to say how proud I am of you for continuing to take a stand for change here in America and sports! @NASCAR I salute you as well! 🙏🏾✊🏾👑 https://t.co/1TwkjVHai5

This is a heinous act that demonstrates exactly how much work is ahead of us in the fight against racism.
Wallace is the only full-time Black driver in NASCAR’s elite Cup Series & pushed for #NASCAR to ban the Confederate flag. https://t.co/9o81vH34Vq— Billie Jean King (@BillieJeanKing) June 22, 2020
