Mystery royal who showed kindness to Kate Garraway during her husband’s Covid battle revealed

Kate Garraway has finally revealed Prince Charles was the mystery royal who supported her during her husband Derek Draper’s Covid battle.

Previously, the Good Morning Britain star had shared a member of the royal family had sent her a letter which offered the help fo a royal physician for her husband.

However, at the time the TV breakfast presenter did not tell who the mystery person was.

Now Ms Garraway appeared to confirm the identity of the mystery helper when she met Prince Charles at a Prince’s Trust awards event where she thanked him.

Speaking to Prince Charles during the event at St James’s Palace, she said: “And you might not remember but you were very kind to me because my husband got very sick with Covid after the last Prince’s Trust awards.

“You wrote to me and gave me help, so thank you very much… and he did improve.”

Initially Ms Garraway didn’t give away the identity of the royal who had showed her great kindness in her memoir Kate Garraway: The Power Of Hope.

She wrote: “One day I received a letter from a member of the Royal Family, offering the services of a Royal physician.

“How lovely, I thought, although it seemed utterly surreal.”

ITV documentary Finding Derek took people behind the scenes of what was happening at home when Mr Draper was recovering after being struck down with coronavirus.

Ms Garraway and Mr Draper fell madly in love with each other in 2004 and married in 2005.

They share two children Darcey, 15, and Billy, 11.
