Twenty-one Myer stores are set to become Amazon parcel collection points in a new deal struck between the two retail giants.

Under the new partnership, customers will be able to pick up their Amazon purchases from major Myer stores, designed to bring in more foot traffic to the brick-and-mortar stores.

The ‘Amazon Hub’ scheme begins as of next Wednesday 9 September, and includes Myer stores in NSW’s Sydney City, Bondi Junction, Chatswood, Warringah, Macquarie, Parramatta, Castle Hill, Roselands.

In Victoria, the Amazon collection points will be available in Myer stores at Melbourne City, Highpoint, Doncaster, Chadstone, Southland, and Geelong.

Aussies living in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia can also collect Amazon Parcels in Myer stores based in Brisbane, Chermside, Carindale, Pacific Fair, Maroochydoore, Adelaide and Perth.

How Amazon Hub will work

Customers who make their Amazon.com.au purchase will be asked at checkout to select their preferred Myer store location for the parcel to be delivered to.

An email notification will alert customers when their parcel has arrived and customers will have seven days to pick up their purchase.

Amazon Prime customers will not pay any extra for delivery to a Myer store, according to a statement by Myer.

Myer chief customer officer Geoff Ikin said the partnership was designed to help customers shop while they pick up their purchases.

“It’s solution led thinking for time poor customers, who can access Myer’s great range of services and brands that we believe Amazon customers will take advantage of when collecting their parcel. So for the customer, for Myer and for Amazon it’s a win-win scenario,” he said.

Aussies will also be able to make fewer shopping trips this way, he added.

“This will mean more customers coming into store, more regularly, to collect their Amazon parcel, or Myer purchases, and whilst there taking advantage of in-store services, such as beauty services and cafés.”

Currently, Aussies can pick up their Amazon parcels at news agencies, pharmacies and other designated parcel pick-up points.
