Yahoo Finance Mum's plea for parents to stop tickling their kids stirs debate
A mum has raised a few eyebrows after suggesting parents should ask for their child’s consent before tickling them.
The mum, who hasn’t been named, wrote in a message to another mum on Facebook parents should also “stop when they ask you to stop”, according to News.com.au.
“It’s about consent and you are teaching them their body, their rules,” she wrote.
The other mum asked if it was child abuse, to which the non-tickler replied: “It’s easy and causes no harm. Why wouldn’t you?”
The message was shared on Facebook and immediately divided opinion.
Some argued tickling isn’t meant to cause harm or abuse.
“What? We argue about tickling now? 2020 is the worst,” one person wrote.
However, others argued the non-tickling mum might have a point.
One wrote they tickle their kids but stop as soon as they ask them to.
