Yahoo Finance Woman stuns TikTok with ‘jaw-dropping’ hack for making cheese last longer: 'I’ll never be the same
A mom is going viral on TikTok after sharing how to make cheese last longer.
The “jaw-dropping” life hack comes courtesy of user @thismomislit. Her clip, which has racked up nearly 3 million views, shows how she uses one simple move to keep her blocked cheese from going bad in the fridge.
“Once I learned this I never went back,” the mom captioned her video.
The clip was inspired by a recent TikTok trend, in which users are sharing the life hack that is “an unconscious standard practice” in their lives. For @thismomislit, that practice was using the packaging from her cheeses block to help preserve the cheese in her fridge.
The short video starts with the mom cutting into her cheese and pulling out a chunk. Then, she removes the plastic wrapping from her cheese and attaches it to the end of her block. The result is basically like sealing your cheese in a plastic bag — but without the hassle or waste of getting a giant, cheese block-sized Ziploc.
It’s a simple trick, but as with many TikTok hacks, that’s what seemed to make it so appealing. Many users were shocked that they’d never thought of it.
“Witchcraft!” one user wrote.
“I’ll never be the same,” another added.
“Omg that changes my life,” another wrote.
“Freaking genius,” another added.
Others, meanwhile, couldn’t believe that users were so surprised. Many wrote that they’d been using the hack for “years.”
Either way, @thismomislit’s video follows in the footsteps of several food-based life hacks to go viral on TikTok. In the past few months alone, users have shared how to crack eggs, fold tortillas and keep veggies fresh in the fridge.
