Mikel Arteta allays Ben White injury fears amid hopes over triple Arsenal fitness boost for Leicester trip

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hopes Ben White, Kieran Tierney and Martin Odegaard will all be fit for Saturday’s trip to Leicester.

Odegaard and Tierney missed Tuesday’s Carabao Cup win over Leeds due to injury, while Ben White was forced off after 55 minutes.

White was suffering with an illness that also ruled Pablo Mari out of the game, and could not carry on after impressing in the first half.

“There is a bug going on,” said Arteta. “We lost Pablo today as well as he wasn’t feeling great. Ben had it as well for the last day or two. He wasn’t feeling great, so we decided to take him off.”

Arsenal hope White should be fine to face Leicester on Saturday lunchtime, while Odegaard and Tierney could return too.

“They were both out with two different injuries,” said Arteta. “They tried yesterday but they didn’t feel great.

“They wanted to be involved, but they weren’t good enough to be selected today. Hopefully in the next few days they can feel better and they can be available for Leicester.”
