Michigan adjusted jobless rate down to 7.5 percent

Michigan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate falls 0.2 points to 7.5 percent in last month

LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- The state says Michigan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has hit its lowest level in six years, falling two-tenths of a percentage point to 7.5 percent.

The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget said Wednesday that March's state jobless rate remains well above the U.S. rate, which stayed put at 6.7 percent in March.

The department says Michigan's civilian labor force rose 11,000 to 4.730 million in March, while the number of people working rose 19,000 to 4.375 million.

The state says 355,000 people were unemployed and seeking work in March, down from 363,000 in February.

Michigan's jobless rate stood at 8.8 percent in March 2013. Last month's rate was the lowest since April 2008's 7.3 percent.
