UFC fighter Matt Frevola was pulled from Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 11 card in Las Vegas after positive COVID-19 test results for one of his cornermen and teammates.

Frevola confirmed he would not fight in an Instagram post on Thursday, saying, “We did everything possible to make this fight happen.” His teammate, Billy Quarantillo, also posted on his Instagram confirming he has no symptoms but tested positive twice this week.

Frevola was scheduled to fight Frank Camacho, who will now fight Justin Jaynes, per ESPN. It’s Jaynes’ UFC debut.

Quarantillo’s last fight was on May 30 and he said he was negative for both tests.

“Since then I’ve had no symptoms, and if i did I never would have gotten on the flight to corner Matt,” he wrote on Instagram.

Frevola is the first fighter to be pulled from a card due to a cornerman’s positive test. A May 8 fight was canceled after Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and two of his cornermen tested positive upon arriving in Florida.

It’s the second fight for Frevola that has been canceled for COVID-19-related reasons. His bout against Roosevelt Roberts scheduled for April was scrapped entirely due to the pandemic.
