MAFS' Bryce lets loose: 'The show stuffed my career up'

Bryce Ruthven has blasted Married At First Sight following the season finale, saying it's "stuffed my career up".

During an appearance on Nova's Fitzy and Wippa, the former radio announcer was asked what piece of advice he'd give to someone considering going on the show, to which he responded: "Really have a good hard think if that’s what you want to go through."

Fitzy questioned whether Bryce believed the show has negatively affected his life and whether he's worried about how he's perceived.

"Yeah I think the show stuffed my career up, I said that to the execs on the show on a phone cool recently, I said you’ve stuffed up my whole career for me with the way you’ve portrayed me," he said.

"Yes I’ve said some things and done some things myself, but at the same time too we’ve got people like Pat and Belinda and Johnny and Kerry, they were happy to celebrate their love story.

"But you’ve got others like Alana and Jason they had such a horrid time on the experiment. Jason is my best mate and I'll call it for what it is - he went through the absolute ringer and got made to look like an absolute idiot where it was the shoe on the other foot.

"Alana getting involved in the relationship, making up lies about comments of me wanting to be single and she got portrayed to be the best human being on the show. So when people say to me do you want to go on the show, do it at your own peril."

Bryce's 'wife' Melissa Rawson shocked the hosts by saying she and Bryce were "destined to fail".

"I would [tell future participants] tread carefully, if you’re very confident outspoken and quite cocky person, you might enjoy the experience and hopefully get matched with somebody that is a similar personality because if you get matched like us it’s probably destined to fail and it will take a lot of work outside of the experiment," she said.

Bryce was recently called out for suggesting he went onto the show for the publicity, revealing he was enjoying it.

"It's disappointing that gossip pages just want to gossip about our relationship, but hey, it's kind of nice at the same time too because all they're doing is building our profiles for when we finish the show, so thanks guys," he told Today Extra's David Campbell and Belinda Russell.

Melissa was clearly surprised by the response and shook her head in disbelief, with David and Belinda immediately questioning the reality star.

"Is that why you're in this though, it's all for publicity?" Belinda questioned.

"That's a problem! That little statement at the end," David agreed.

Bryce, who appeared flustered by the questions, added: "Well that's the thing, if they're gonna keep doing it, they're just helping us [with] whatever we wanna do in the future."

David moved the questions to Melissa, asking whether she was on the show for "publicity".

"Are you here for infamy and fame?" he asked.

Melissa quickly shut the idea down, saying she's still working full time with Bryce jumping in to say his comments were "a dead set joke".

Currently, Bryce's LinkedIn account shows he's a freelance commentator for Football Victoria after leaving his announcing gig at Hit 104.7 in Canberra and moving to Melbourne with Melissa.
