You want skill? You want teamwork? You want power?

Manchester City beat Burnley with all three.

Gabriel Jesus scored two gorgeous goals and Rodri added a deafening third as City beat Burnley 4-1 on Tuesday at Turf Moor.

Jesus’ first strike arrived in the 24th minute, when he took possession wide left and peeled a curling shot that looked destined to sail wide into the upper-right corner:

There was brief trepidation when it seemed like the goal came at the expense of Kevin de Bruyne, who’d been involved in a hard collision in the build-up.

But de Bruyne was OK. So OK that he began the movement that led to the second goal, feeding wide for Bernardo Silva to play a left-footed cross back that Jesus chased down in the 50th minute:

Rodri, City’s club-record signing from the summer, put the game to bed in the 68th minute when he lashed home this booming combination of technique and force:

Riyad Mahrez added his 50th career Premier League goal in the 87th minute, while Robbie Brady pulled one back for Burnley right before stoppage time.

Even with the win, City still trails Liverpool by eight points and could be down 11 again if the Reds beat Everton in Wednesday’s Merseyside derby.

But City will be in hot pursuit of a third straight title the rest of the season, and impressive displays like Tuesday’s are a loud reminder.
