A man’s girlfriend refuses to stop hanging out with her ex-girlfriend, to whom she’s been sending flirty text messages with kiss face emojis, and now he’s considering calling it quits.

The man, 20, took to Reddit’s “Relationship Advice” forum to gain insight into the sticky situation.
For context, the man explained that recently he saw that his girlfriend, 19, whom he lives with, has been sending kissy face emojis to her ex-girlfriend, 19.
“When I confronted her, she said it was friendly. She said I wouldn’t understand, but that’s just how they communicate,” the post’s author relayed.

While the man is trying to accept his girlfriend’s “friendly” text exchanges with her ex, he told her that he doesn’t want them to hang out together as it makes him uncomfortable.
This request did not sit well with the man’s girlfriend.
“She told me I was being insecure, and I’m not allowed to tell her who she can and cannot hang out with,” the Redditor shared.
“I told her if she’s willing to lose me just to hang out with her ex, then I don’t need to be in this relationship anyways,” the man concluded, ending his post by explaining that their lease ends next April.

“You need to find out if that same behavior would be acceptable to her if you were sending kissy faces to your ex and going to hang out with them. If not, it’s a double standard, and you should point that out to her,” one Redditor noted.
“If she [were] fine with you doing the same, it’s still okay for you to set that as a boundary for your relationship. She is right that you don’t have a say in who she sees or what she does, but you do have a say in whether you want to be in a relationship with someone who acts this way,” determined the same Reddit user.
