Man slams neighbors over their ‘ridiculous’ pet-sitting request: ‘That is really unreasonable’

A man had a falling out with his neighbors after he watched their dogs.

He asked Reddit’s “Am I the A******” forum for advice. His neighbors Candace and Jackson asked him to watch their dogs while they were away. They paid him $20 for a whole week of pet-sitting. However, the Reddit poster was shocked when Jackson intensely scrutinized his efforts.

“Candace and Jackson have been on a trip with their two young kids,” the Reddit poster wrote. “Before they left, they asked if we would be willing to watch their dogs, walk them, make sure they have food and water. This has happened before and they always offer a few bucks to do it. It’s day four or five of watching their dogs. I have a work meeting in the morning from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., so once it’s over I go to feed the dogs, make sure they’ve got water and have been let outside. I get busy again, so go back to my house for a few hours to take care of some things.”

Then the Reddit poster got a surprising text message from Jackson.

“I’m doing some work when I receive the following text from Jackson: ‘Hey, for the future, three things: The dogs are not to be left alone past 8:00 a.m. Please be sure to walk them at least around the block two to three times a day. Make sure you’re giving them water more frequently because last time their water was almost empty when we got home Thanks.’ He has an outside Ring security system so he can see when I come and go. This guy is expecting me to put in hours of work according to a strict schedule into his dogs each day for less than $20 for the whole week. I told him I would oblige for this last day but that I would never be watching his dogs or children again. He didn’t take very kindly to my saying that. He’s complained to a lot of different neighbors saying he was ‘compensating’ me for this work and that I’m a lazy/unkind neighbor,” the Reddit poster said.

Reddit users thought the neighbor was asking for too much.

“The neighbor is ridiculous and needs to pay for an actual dog sitter for the sake of his dogs,” one person commented.

“Giving them food or water twice a day would be okay and walking them once a day is okay but more than that is really unreasonable,” another said.

“They didn’t communicate the level of attention the dogs need; that’s on them,” someone wrote.
