Man gets nasty surprise after falling asleep in Uber taxi

If you were recently outraged with Uber charging a Sydney woman $213 for a New Year's fare that would normally cost $35 - you aint seen nothing yet.

A Gridiron fan in the US can now add a $900 bill to his already miserable day after his college football team Ole Miss lost a game to Texas Christian University.

According to Twitter user @ompowderblues, his cousin left a New Year's Eve party at the Peach Bowl after his gridiron team was defeated by a whopping 42-3 that day.

He apparently hopped into an Uber taxi and then accidentally typed in his home address before falling asleep.

It may not have ended so badly had he lived nearby.

But as it turns out he lives in Mississippi and his New Year's party had been in - wait for it - Atlanta, Georgia.

According to @ompowderblues, his cousin then woke up back in Mississippi after crossing state borders and was surprised with a $908 bill for the road trip.

Another cab company was quick to jump on the opportunity to promote themselves, responding to the tweet:

"This would never happen in a Yellow Cab. Most of our drivers cannot cross state lines."

If this story is in fact to be believed, then perhaps $908 to cross state borders on New Years Eve isn't so outrageous after all.
