I live in loungewear, and these are the 4 best matching sets that are flattering and comfortable

I’m no longer deluding myself that I’ll go back to getting “dressed up” every day. If it happens, great, but I no longer have any shame or guilt about wearing loungewear while working from home.

In fact, I’ve fully embraced this new normal. Rather than continue to buy new jeans or shoes that won’t see the light of day, I decided to only buy loungewear. It’s what I wear basically every day, so it’s really what I should be buying.

On my quest for the best matching loungewear sets that felt amazingly comfortable but didn’t look totally schlubby (I still have to take video meetings, after all), I tried a bunch of options from all different brands. I splurged on some expensive ones but tried affordable styles too. My most important criteria: Does this loungewear set make me look and feel good?

Luckily, I found a few real winners. I was surprised to find that they weren’t the most expensive pieces I purchased. Instead, I discovered that you could score a super comfortable, good-looking loungewear set without spending more than $150. Below, check out the best matching loungewear sets I came across during my “research.”

Best Matching Loungewear Sets

J.Crew University terry logo sweatshirt, $39.99 (Orig. $69.50); J.Crew University terry sweatpant with logo embroidery, $42.50 (Orig. $79.50)

Hands down, this is my favorite matching loungewear set. I love it so much that I have it in four different colors (black, gray, pink and green). The fabric is substantial, so I know it will hold up over time, and the color selection includes a bunch of classic shades that won't go out of style. One important thing to note: The sizing on the sweatpants is tricky. If you want a really oversized look, go with your normal size. If you want the pants to fit a bit closer, order a size or two down. I usually wear a size 2 or XS in other J.Crew items. I got these sweatpants in a size XXS, and they're still plenty baggy, but I'm not swimming in them.

ThirdLove Weekend Terry Sweatshirt, $27 (Orig. $55); ThirdLove Weekend Terry Jogger, $27 (Orig. $55)

Like most people, I know (and love) ThirdLove for the lingerie, but I was pleasantly surprised to fall in love with this Terry Jogger and Terry Sweatshirt combo that the brand sent me. I got the set in the emerald green color, and it was so pretty that I couldn't resist wearing it the day after I received it. Then came the compliments! Everyone loved the color and how flattering the pieces looked, even though they were technically sweats. That's a win.

WVN Live In Sweatshirt, $98; WVN Throw On Pant, $98

If you're looking for something incredibly soft and lightweight, then go with this loungewear set from WVN. It's not as heavy or bulky as the options above. In fact, the material almost feels silky, which is nice. I like this set so much that I sometimes pair the pieces with "real" clothes. The sweatshirt looks great with jeans, and you can totally rock the throw-on pants with a sophisticated cashmere sweater.

Yummie Long Sleeve Lounge Tee - Cotton Rib, $40; Yummie Cropped Lounge Pant - Cotton Rib, $44

Buy Now

Here is another great lightweight loungewear set for folks who don't like a lot of bulk. The ribbed material makes the set look a bit more elevated, while the cropped wide-leg pant is a nice departure from typical joggers. There are actually two coordinating tops to pair with the pants, depending on your preference. I went with the Long Sleeve Lounge Tee, which I love, but there's also the Cropped Lounge Hoodie if you like that instead.
