Lennar, Spotify, Macy's: Companies to Watch

Here are the companies the Yahoo Finance team is watching for you today.

It’s been a big quarter at home builder Lennar (LEN). The company beat expectations on earnings and revenue last quarter as new orders soared by 23%, and its margin on home sales topped 21%. The company’s president said the results show the "basic underlying housing market fundamentals" remain favorable.

Spotify (SPOT) is expanding more into the sports industry. The streaming giant is developing multiple daily sports shows as part of a podcast expansion, according to Bloomberg. One of the shows will be a 10-minute recap of the day in sports. These additions to Spotify’s podcast lineup come as the company tries to expand more into original podcasts and rely less on music.

Retail is starting off 2020 on a tough note. Macy's (M) now plans to close 19 stores over the next few months. “We are aligning teams and resources around our most important strategies, which has involved some headcount reduction. Communications with those being impacted are taking place," a Macy’s spokesperson said.
