What Do Last Week’s Global Economic Indicators Suggest?

Are Global Economic Indicators Causing Better Economic Sentiment?

Economic indicators

Economic indicators are important for investors, as they shed light on the economic health of a country. They also help investors identify short-term economic trends. Investors who invest outside the United States should monitor these indicators to better understand the condition of the global economy (ACWI) (VTI) (VEU). Important global indicators released last week include the following:

  • US crude oil inventories

  • US CPI (Consumer Price Index)

  • US industrial production

  • Japanese GDP data

Series overview

In this series, we’ll see why US crude oil (USO) (UCO) inventories rose for the week ended May 13, 2016. We’ll also see why the US (QQQ) (IVV) CPI improved in April. In addition, we’ll look at Japan’s (EWJ) (DXJ) improved first quarter GDP and what drove it.
