Lakers rule out LeBron James for Thursday's game with sore groin

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without LeBron James as they face the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, the team announced.

James is dealing with a sore groin, and Anthony Davis is also probably with a sore left elbow after appearing to hurt it during Tuesday’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

While there’s no indication James is dealing with a serious injury, the location is still sure to create some worry among Lakers fans.

James missed more than a month last season after re-aggravating a groin injury on Christmas, and that absence coincided with the Lakers falling out of the playoffs. If James’ groin issue is back, that could mean the superstar could have to miss games.

Fortunately for the Lakers, missing James on Thursday probably won’t hurt as much as usual given the opponent. The Warriors sit in last place in the Western Conference at 12-46 and Stephen Curry isn’t coming back until at least Sunday.

The Lakers have faced the Warriors twice so far this season, winning 120-95 and 125-120 despite missing Davis in the first game.
