Yahoo Finance Kyrie Irving calms Nets fans after two-game losing streak: 'We will be on that stage'
Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving isn’t concerned about the team’s two-game losing streak. Irving attempted to calm down panicked Nets fans Saturday morning, letting them know the team “will be on that stage” at the end of the season.
Irving posted a note on Instagram reassuring fans that the season is not lost after just two games.
Irving’s full comment read:
“We will be on that stage. The stage where the “best of the best” meet ... you know, the main stage. Where those who can do, and those who cannot talk about those that are doing. If you rolling with us, great. Let’s rock. If you’re not ... you know you wanna talk about our greatness anyway!”
Irving also sent out that message in his Instagram story, but with one minor difference. That message began with the sentence “Don’t trip, it’s a long journey” before getting into the rest of Irving’s post.
Nets don’t have much to worry about ... yet
While a team with Irving, Kevin Durant and James Harden should dominate every night, a two-game losing streak shouldn’t be a major concern. After opening the season 3-4, the Nets got their act together, going 6-2 over their next eight games. The two-game losing streak dropped the team to 9-8 on the season, good for the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference.
That’s disappointing considering the star power on the team, though the trio of Durant, Harden and Irving haven’t been together long. On top of that, the Nets didn’t have Durant for Friday’s 125-113 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Durant missed the contest to rehab his Achilles injury.
Given the talent on the team, it’s assumed the Nets will get it together and play at a high level. If the team’s struggles persist a month from now, it might be time to worry. But a two-game losing streak shouldn’t erase what Durant, Harden and Irving have done in the past.
