KitchenAid just dropped its 2021 color of the year, and it’s the ray of sunshine we needed

Just when you thought KitchenAid’s iconic stand mixer couldn’t get better, it makes a grand entrance in a dashing new color.

It’s true that there have been many iterations of this timeless kitchen appliance in its 102-year lifetime (yep, the KitchenAid stand mixer was first introduced in 1919), but each new edition (and color!) always seems to outdo itself.

This year, KitchenAid’s Color of the Year is the sweetest shade yet. The retailer’s 2021 Color of the Year is called Honey, which was made to help “radiate positivity and warmth,” both of which we need now more than ever, according to KitchenAid’s press release.

The delicious new mood-boosting hue is reminiscent of Pantone’s two 2021 Colors of the Year, which were chosen for their “optimistic” feel.

Think of Honey as a shade that sparks joy, bringing a bright ray of sunshine to a year that really needs it. (It might also make you want to immediately bake cookies.)

While KitchenAid’s 2020 Color of the Year was a neon-green color named Kyoto Glow, Honey is a warmer shade that was made to inspire harmony and reflect the “sweetness of humanity.”

“Honey isn’t just a product we use in recipes around the globe; it’s an invitation to connect and a reminder of the joy that comes from collaboration,” KitchenAid’s global marketing director Jon Bellante said in the press release.

Not only can this new color add an extra bit of warmth to your kitchen setup, but in a shade this fun, you might actually enjoy looking at them on your countertops.
