I moved from the Midwest to New York City right after college, and one thing I didn’t prepare for was a tiny kitchen. Seriously, I can’t even fit a full baking sheet in my oven or my dishes in the cabinets!

When I moved into my studio apartment (it’s less than 250 sq. feet), I actually looked on Pinterest for tiny home hacks. After a bit of research — and, now, personal experience — I found the most important way to make space is to use multi-purpose products.

If you live alone or usually cook for only one to two people, you can also get more compact, personal-size appliances to save space. Let’s face it, you don’t necessarily need a full-size blender when you’re making a smoothie for one.

And, when it comes to stuffing the fridge and freezer, you can find pre-packaged ingredients and meals that take up much less space. Everything you need to make a veggie-packed grain bowl takes up way more space than a pre-made one (like those from Daily Harvest).
