Welcome to our live rolling coverage of the breaking news that Tottenham have sacked Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho has been relieved on his duties by Daniel Levy just six days before Tottenham face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup Final, and the morning after Spurs sensationally announced they are among the 12 founding members of a new European Super League.

Mourinho succeeded Mauricio Pochettino as Spurs manager in November 2019 and was tasked with taking the club to the next level.

However, despite being top of the Premier League earlier this season, performances and results have tailed off since the turn of the year, with Mourinho repeatedly criticising his squad’s mentality.

As with Chelsea and Manchester United, Mourinho appeared to lose sections of the dressing room. Following Spurs’ Europa League exit, captain Hugo Lloris spoke of a divided squad, while Heung-min Son appeared close to tears following the recent 3-1 home defeat to United.

Levy informed Mourinho if his decision on Monday morning. Ryan Mason and Chris Powell will take temporary charge of the side, with Spurs facing Southampton on Wednesday before the Wembley final against Pep Guardiola’s side on Sunday.
