The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly agreed to trade Pro Bowl defensive end Calais Campbell to the Baltimore Ravens.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Jaguars are giving up just a fifth-round pick for Campbell. Pro Football Talk reported that the Ravens are taking on all of Campbell’s remaining salary, which is $15 million. He’s heading into the final year of his current deal and will reportedly attempt to negotiate a contract extension with the Ravens.

Campbell, 33, is an outstanding player who still might be underrated. According to ESPN’s Field Yates, only three players have gathered at least 50 tackles and 6.5 sacks in each of the past three seasons, and Campbell is one of them. He’s also the current Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year.

The Jaguars cleared some cap space with this trade, which they needed to do after placing the franchise tag on Yannick Ngakoue, Campbell’s ostensible replacement. Ngakoue has recently expressed the desire to leave Jacksonville and play somewhere else, which just illustrates how much the Jaguars need to do to pick up the pieces of an abysmal 2019 season. Even their $88 million quarterback Nick Foles, who broke his collarbone in the first game of the season only to lose his starting job not long after returning, is on the trade block.

The Jaguars gained something else in this: draft picks.

That is a tremendous number of draft picks. But for a team that never seems to get out of its own way, can there ever be too many draft picks?
