Yahoo Finance The ITK Bowl is coming this week — meet some of our 2021 teams
The ITK Bowl 2021 is kicking off and it’s time for you to meet our teams. Join NFL sportscaster and host Kay Adams as she introduces the duos playing in our Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War tournament, sponsored by Pizza Hut.
First up, we have Sebastian Joseph-Day of the Los Angeles Rams and Ricky “Atura” Lugo of the Florida Mutineers. Right out the gate, Joseph-Day declared that he has no reason to engage in trash talk since Atura works as a coach for the Mutineers.
“Listen, I don’t need to talk no smack,” Joseph-Day told Atura. “I’m here, I got the head coach with me, you know what I’m saying? We about to skrrt skrrt, pull up.”
“And just know, I’m as good as all my players,” Atura added.
Atura shared about how he played the Call of Duty series since he was a kid. But he didn’t consider making a career out of it until someone in a public lobby suggested he aim for the big leagues. Though he competed as a semi-pro, he shifted his ambition to coaching, which was how he entered the Call of Duty League.
Joseph-Day also grew up gaming from childhood, but upon entering Rutgers University as a collegiate athlete, his focus shifted to sports. That focus became even more intense once he joined the NFL. However, once the pandemic hit, Joseph-Day suddenly found himself with a lot to revisit his love for video games. He’s been practicing Call of Duty ever since.
As for their game plan, Atura recommended Joseph-Day to include the AUG, XM4 or AK74 in their kits.
Our next duo is Tom “OGRE 2” Ryan of the Florida Mutineers and Stephen Jackson, who has played for several NBA teams.
“Hey, I’m just going to say this,” Jackson told OGRE 2. “Tim Duncan named me the ultimate team player because I know how to be a teammate in any environment. So I’m going to feed off my teammate, we’re going to get together and we’re going to shock the world.”
Jackson played with the San Antonio Spurs in 2003 when he earned his championship ring. Today, he currently co-hosts All the Smoke, a Showtime podcast that focuses on the pressing issues and inner workings of the NBA. However, Jackson has also been casually competing in the Z League, an amateur league for Call of Duty: Warzone players, with his team No Cap.
You could say that OGRE 2 has some gaming experience as well. For the uninitiated, OGRE 2 is probably the greatest Halo player of all time. After retiring from competition in 2016, OGRE 2 transitioned into coaching and currently serves as the general manager for the Florida Mutineers.
“I’m a Halo veteran myself,” OGRE 2 told Jackson. “I played professionally for about 14 years, winning the most Halo tournaments — most console tournaments of all time — including Call of Duty tournaments.”
Regarding their playstyle, Jackson shared that he always keeps a sniper rifle on him in all his loadouts. OGRE 2 is a fan of assault rifles and said he’ll probably run with the M4 or the Krig 6.
OGRE 2 identified Atura as a possible rival in the tournament due to Atura’s experience as a competition-level player. Jackson knew his mark right away — Jarvis Landry, wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns.
“I plan on knocking his nog off,” Jackson said. “With the M4, one to the head, lay him down. Where’s his teammate?”
