Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that the Blaze Minerals Limited (ASX:BLZ) Corporate Director, Mathew Walker, recently bought AU$90k worth of stock, for AU$0.03 per share. That purchase might not be huge but it did increase their holding by 12%.

Blaze Minerals Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In fact, the recent purchase by Mathew Walker was the biggest purchase of Blaze Minerals shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. That means that even when the share price was higher than AU$0.026 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock if insiders have bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price.

Insider Ownership of Blaze Minerals

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Blaze Minerals insiders own about AU$2.4m worth of shares. That equates to 29% of the company. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Blaze Minerals Insiders?

It's certainly positive to see the recent insider purchases. We also take confidence from the longer term picture of insider transactions. But we don't feel the same about the fact the company is making losses. When combined with notable insider ownership, these factors suggest Blaze Minerals insiders are well aligned, and that they may think the share price is too low. While we like knowing what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision. At Simply Wall St, we've found that Blaze Minerals has 3 warning signs (1 makes us a bit uncomfortable!) that deserve your attention before going any further with your analysis.
